Pool Sand Filter Media Working Process
Sand Filter is commonly used for water purification for
treating impure water to produce a portable product, is also called slow sand
water filter. The process of filtration is usually repeated to ensure satisfactory
removal of unwanted particles in the pool water. It is an important part
of maintaining a health swimming environment. Proper Maintenance of filter
requires that the silica sand of filter media is regularly changed to get hygienic water in the pool. The filter
also removes the body oils and other minerals which infected human body while
swimming.
How sand Filter Work
Sand Filter work on simple mechanism, the water
passes through the sand from the top to bottom. A layer of gravel and sand
(large particle) is set on the top of the tank. Small particle sand holds the
all microorganisms and other large dust particles.

Making a sand filter for Swimming pool is not a hard job,
just few things required for it. A pool Filter needs cleaning average a year.
Required material for Sand Filter
* Large Plastic container
* Silica Sand and Gravel
* Nylon/cotton sheet (optional)
* High pressure water pump
* Pipe/tube
Assemble process of sand filter
* Cut the hole with the help of drill on the narrow container
ends. Make sure that diameter of the hole is same of plastic pipe.
* Insert the tube into the hole and sealed with silicone caulking
to ensure it is waterproof
* Add Gravel and silica sand Layer into the container.
* Insert the nylon cloth layer on the top of the container. It
holds all large particles which come in during the filtration process. The best
thing is that collected large particle can be easily removed manually after the
few months.
* Add Plastic tube on the top of the container and attached to
the high pressure water pump.
Many variations of filter have been produced all around the
world, but the common characteristic all has – they are closed or pressurized.
All filters have to be maintained. The lack of maintenance is one of the
biggest contributors to health problems.
