Cons of Artificial Grass
Artificial turf serves as a best alternative to natural grass in the domestic or
commercial area. It is the widely
used to cover the surface of tennis and other grounds in recent time. The
reason behind of more use of artificial turf is that its reliability. It is
convenient for those people who want to have lawn, but doesn’t require much
maintenance and care. People only know the advantages of the artificial grass,
but it has many hidden disadvantages. Some of the disadvantages are:
- Cost
It is inexpensive to install and cost is included grass
removal, surface preparation and artificial turf material which is used during
the installation. There are many options which increase the cost of turf for
example: extra drainage system, temperature control system.
- Environmental Effect
Natural grass has a cooling effect when the atmosphere is
hot, but artificial turf does not do so. It absorbs the heat and makes the
surrounding air hotter. Hidden water system can keep the cool grass.
- Maintenance
Artificial grass
requires extra care for the maintenance. You need to spray the disinfectant to
kill bacteria/ microorganisms. Sanitation of the lawn is also anxiety. You will
need to clean up any messy thing which could be infected human body.
- Chemicals Impacts
Toxic metals including lead, plasticizes, etc. have many
harmful effects on human body parts included kidneys, lungs, reproductive
organs and liver. Synthetic grass industry used recycles tires to make infill
that effect our environment, but another infill is silica sand which are commonly used in these days. It absorbs extra
moisture and kills bacteria. Recycles tires also increases breathing problems
for an asthmatics patient because of grass dust.
- Bacterial Breeding Ground
It is the best place for bacteria that grow in the
artificial grass. Human blood, body cells and sweat are also remains on it
which helps the microorganism to grow in it.
Which one is better: Artificial Turf and Natural Grass?
Both grasses have their own pros and cons. As above mention
the cons of artificial grass, it is right for only commercial areas like
playground, but not good for housing lawns because many health problems are
related with it.
